Paul Friel

Paul and his wife Mary have lived in the OJR school district for over 30 raising their 4 children aged 16 to 29. Paul believes strongly in public education and believes OJR is the heart of our community. “We are lucky to live and raise a family in an area with a great school system with programs that serve kids with diverse interests and passions.” As parents we have been involved in PTA at East Vincent Elementary, in the ROTC, coaching club Wrestling, Soccer, and as proud parents of kids participating in many of the academic and sports clubs and teams at OJR.

Why I’m Running

I want to ensure each student is successful in and out of the classroom by making learning an engaging and meaningful experience. OJR is the heart of our community, I believe in community service and believe I have the ability and experience to be an effective school board member and will advocate for our community and our students.

Civility, transparency and stability are important to effectively lead the school district. I don’t think parties or politics have a place on the school board. Common goals, community interests and student success should be the focus of the school board and our administration. To achieve this we need a willingness to work with diverse viewpoints, let facts drive our decisions, and not allow personal agendas or issues to bias our decisions.
